Belgian Red Cross websites

2018

The Belgian Red Cross is first of all 18 departments with their own functioning, their activity and their specific deadlines (blood donation, Maisons Croix-Rouge, training, paramedical equipment, international action…).

To redesign the website (and its multi-sites) for an organisation of this size, Spade had to consult all these departments and map the key points for each one, before building several workshops to develop a sustainable digital strategy.

We set up a navigation that took into account this reality and diversity, while offering a common content management tool:

  • similar to ensure homogeneity and harmonisation of content
  • but flexible enough to ensure the independence of the different editorial teams in this complex movement

As far as the interface is concerned, we have emphasised the human aspect thanks to the large amount of space given over to visuals and, among other things, to the very beautiful photo library made available by the Belgian Red Cross.

This project was carried out in collaboration with Julien Lambé and his framework Themosis, as well as BeCode  for the content management.

The workshops are one of the strong points of this collaboration: they guided us well in the creation of personas, how to manage the complexity and multiplicity of services, how to structure the site, etc. The most important point of the collaboration was to take into account this complexity, to listen to the different departments and services and to create these personas together to make a site that suited us. The most important point of the collaboration was to take into account this complexity, to listen to the different departments and services and to create these personas together in order to create a site that corresponds to us.
